Holiday of Heroes

The school year at Elderwood University begins with one of the most beloved celebrations in Austerea: Old King’s Day.

Long ago, Austerea was a land of warring kingdoms and their heroes and villains. These legends are still celebrated by dressing up in elaborate costumes and coming together for a night of drinking, games, and song.

All Dressed Up

Your friends will dress as some of their favorite heroes of the Old King’s Era:

Iridessa

Iridessa is dressed as the most iconic figure of the Old Kings Era, Queen Nuan Romanis. A scholar, warrior, poet, and philosopher, Queen Nuan is credited with unifying the continent and often called the Mother of Austerea.

Cato

Cato is dressed as Marlo Galeswept, a dashing adventurer who was the first to sail around Austerea. A popular legend involves him being the first Austerean to trade with the island of Savola (and the first to fall in love with a Savolan woman).

Niel

Niel is dressed as Tasla Moonlost, one of the most mysterious and controversial figures of the old myths. Tasla led an all-female cult in a doomed rebellion against the King of the Northlands. She is seen by some as a dangerous radical and others as a visionary ahead of her time.

Bardric

Bardric is dressed as Kassian Riverblessed, a beloved vagabond and wanderer, and the subject of many of the most popular (and bawdy) songs. Strongly associated with nature, Kassian is a trickster figure who comes up in many myths.
